My Giants

When I look out my window
I see giants, many giants
Standing guard
At the foot of a vast
and mighty
Ocean.

No water,
This ocean bleeds the blood
Of a thousand fallen
Not to the wars
Ill fought, unjust

Not the soldiers, politicians,
government, famous, athletic
No giants would be needed
To guard such thin blood.

Here lay those who go
without awe
The dreamer, and the artist
The seer who saw
and the lowly.

Here at the feet of giants
Who stand guard
And remind us that there are
those still
Who live, to live
I look to these giants
And smile every morning.
